Obituary for James P. Stack
James P. Stack, age 86, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Marietta Center in Marietta. He was born October 22, 1931, in Elba, son of the late Shelby and Elizabeth Stack. He was a graduate of Macksburg High School, and he was a United States Army veteran who served in Germany during the Korean War. He was self-employed as a logger, and he was formerly employed by Andrew Cline pumping oil wells and by the Union Carbide Corporation. He also farmed and raised cattle. Jim was a member of Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, the Lowell and Caldwell Moose Lodges, and the Middleburg Coon Hunting Club. As a young man, he enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved golfing, fishing, bowling, camping, gardening, and playing cards. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Browns, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also loved spending time on his CB radio, where his handle was “Flash.”
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Jean Stack, who died July 14, 2003; two sisters, Ellen May Stack and Bertha Lucille Stack; and three brothers, Gary Lee Stack, Shelby Kendal Stack, and Dennis Earl Stack; and his longtime friend and companion, Delores Lambert.
Surviving are one sister, Sandra Hesson of North Carolina; one brother, Kenneth E. (Sandra) Stack of Macksburg; his niece and caregiver, Stephanie L. Stack of Dexter City; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, September 17, 2018, from 11AM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Ken Perkins officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Williamson-Stack Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS, Inc.
