Obituary for James Orton Lantz
James Orton Lantz, age 61, of Chapel Drive, Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born October 24, 1950, in Caldwell, son of the late Orton Virgil and Fern Lillian Walters Lantz. He was a 1968 graduate of Caldwell High School, and a 1970 graduate of Ohio Technical College, from which he received an associate degree in electronics. He was also a 1996 graduate of Washington State Community College, from which he received an associate degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by NCR in Cambridge for 20 years, and by Silverheels Property Management, LLC, in Marietta for 8 years. Mr. Lantz was a former member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church. He was a great mechanic who enjoyed fixing things. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Most importantly, he was a leader who had a sweet, gentle way about him, who always lended a helping hand to others. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Lantz, who died in 1997, and Dennis Lantz, who died in 2001; his yellow lab, Tessie Sue; and his two beagles, Skippy and Puddin'. Surviving are his wife, Dianna Deane 'Dee Dee' Day Lantz, whom he married February 4, 1973; one son, James Heath (Laura Angioni) Lantz of Mestre, Italy; one sister, Ruth M. (Howard) Nau of Caldwell, one sister-in-law, Robin (Chaz) Chalfant of Marietta; one brother-in-law, Eric (Laura) Rutter of Marietta; his munchkins, Poppy, Jamey, Jessy, Penny, and Polly; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Monday, March 12, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, March 13th at 11AM with Father Wayne Morris officiating.
