Obituary for James L. "Jim" Swaney
James L. “Jim” Swaney, age 74, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Sunday, February 14, 2021, at his home. He was born May 30, 1946, in Noble County, son of the late Clarence and Wilma Boothby Swaney. He was employed as a truck driver for Donald Morris Sawmill and as a heavy equipment operator for B&N Coal Company. He also worked as a mechanic. He was everyone’s go-to man if anything needed fixed. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed bluegrass music and playing poker. He was much loved and devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Lumley, Ruth Cook, and Thelma Nunn; and two brothers, Dean Swaney and Mansel Swaney.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Jean Hupp Swaney, whom he married August 10, 2001; his children, Sean D. (Tracy) Hupp of Caldwell, Mark D. “Bink” (Christina) Swain of Macksburg, and Stephanie D. Murphy of Whipple; seven grandchildren, James R. Hupp, Hayleigh N. Milligan, Tianna M. Swain, Johnathon D. Swain, Troy D. Hupp, Levi M. Swain, and Alexis D. Swain; six great-grandchildren, Haiden, Harmony, Elijah, Colt, Elena, and Cooper; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, February 18th at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery. Guests are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing at all gatherings as required by the state of Ohio. The family would like to offer special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care and concern.
