Obituary for James L. "Jim" Gildow
James L. “Jim” Gildow, age 67, of Beverly, Ohio, died Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born February 8, 1954, in Marietta, son of the late Frank and Wilma Grace “Kim” Hayes Gildow. Jim was a 1971 graduate of Caldwell High School. He was self-employed as an over-the-road truck driver who owned and operated James Gildow Trucking. He enjoyed playing cards, carpentry, and building and fixing things, and he was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Jim was devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Gildow and Virginia Dianne Gildow; and seven brothers, Charles “Doc” Shilling, John Shilling, Dick Shilling, Wayne Shilling, Bill Shilling, Robert Shilling, and Tom Gildow.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn J. Glidden Gildow, whom he married May 16, 1987; his children, Jamie D. (Richard) Gessel, Christina M. Giammona, Joanie D. Gildow, and Robert L. “Bobby” Giammona, all of Macksburg; five grandchildren, Jennifer Rose Gessel, Robbie Giammona, Romeo Giammona, Riley Giammona, and Larissa Giammona; one sister, Janet L. (Patrick) Stover of Waterford; his sisters-in-law, Dottie Shilling, Martha Shilling, and Patty Shilling; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dog, Gogo.
Friends may call Monday, January 3, 2022, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, January 4th at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) at www.aspca.org. Guests are asked to follow recommended safety precautions against Covid at all gatherings.
