Obituary for James G. Chicwak
James George Chicwak, age 66, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, October 12, 2008, at his dairy farm. He was born May 16, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of Margaret Younger Chicwak of Caldwell and the late George John Chicwak. He was a graduate of Caldwell High School, where he was active in FFA. Mr. Chicwak was a dedicated dairy farmer and had owned and operated a family farm in Noble County for many years. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley. He was involved with the Noble Soil and Water Conservation District, and in 1984 was named Farmer of the Year by the Noble County Chamber of Commerce. He loved working outdoors, hunting, collecting John Deere tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ruth Bumgardner Chicwak; three sons, James (Jamie) Chicwak of Caldwell, John Chicwak of Caldwell, and Gordo(Diane) Wheatley of Canton; two daughters, Carol (Andy) Pakes of Caldwell and Barb (Greg) Clark of Pleasant City; three sisters, Shirley (George) Spence of Enon, Karen (Lynn) Mallett of Caldwell, and Regina (Chris) Crock of Caldwell; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. Friends may call Tuesday, October 14, 2008, from 12:30-3:30PM and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15th at 11AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley with Fr. Wayne Morris celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.
