James D. “J.P.” Potts, age 78, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Monday, February 15, 2021, at his home. He was born July 30, 1942, in Cambridge, son of the late John Dee and Alice L. Friel Potts. He was a 1960 graduate of Valley Local High School at Buffalo, Ohio, and he graduated from auto mechanic school in Pennsylvania. He was employed by Greenland Services, as a mechanic for Caldwell Motors, and he retired as a school bus mechanic for Rolling Hills Local School District in Byesville.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Vonne J. Shepard; and one brother, John D. Potts.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Kay Sichina Potts, whom he married January 23, 1960; two sons, James F. (Yvonne) Potts of Boston, Massachusetts, and Timothy J. (Jill) Potts of Richmond, Virginia; his siblings, Joyce (John) Starrett of Cumberland and Jay D. Potts of Cambridge; and 3 grandchildren, Alicen, Elizabeth, and Stephanie.
A graveside service will be observed Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 1:30PM at Buffalo Cemetery with Ken Perkins officiating. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family. An online guestbook may be signed at www.mcvay-perkins.com
