Obituary for James C. Rice
James C. Rice, age 70, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Friday, October 18, 2013, at The Arbors at Marietta. He was born February 28, 1943, in Rittman, son of the late Corbett and Meda Workman Rice. He was a graduate of Batesville High School, and he retired as a tool and die maker from the former Dana plant in Caldwell. He attended the Elba Community Church, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Georgetta; one son, Brent; and one brother, Robert. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Starr Rice, whom he married in 1970; his children, James (Kristy) Rice of Byesville, Brett (Tina) Weaver of Macksburg, Jeff (Trenda) Rice of Belle Valley, Curt (Debbie) Rice of Byesville, Leorena Rice of New Concord, and Loretta (Mike) Peyton of Georgia; two sisters, Betheen Turinch of Arizona and Marylou Randalls of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren, D.J., Corey, Candace, Allysa, Casey, Josh, Olivia, Lexi, Whitney, Dalton, and Andrea; 5 great-grandchildren, Ivy, Gracie, Michael, Rylie, and special great-grandaughter, Lynnetta, known as “Froggy”; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, October 21st at 11AM with Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at The Arbors at Marietta for its wonderful care.
