Obituary for James A. Sholtis
James A. Sholtis, age 85, of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, died Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born January 3, 1935, in Noble County, son of the late Andrew James and Arnetta Mae Foreman Sholtis. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Sarahsville High School and a member of the Ohio National Guard. He owned and operated Sholtis Mower Service in Mt. Ephraim for over 60 years, and he was formerly employed by the Dana Corporation in Caldwell for over 40 years, from which he retired January 1, 2000. Jim served as a Seneca Twp. Trustee for 36 years. He was a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Olive Lodge #210, Free and Accepted Masons in Mt. Ephraim. He loved Shenandoah Zeps sports and he enjoyed eating at Patty’s Place in Belle Valley. He was devoted to his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon James Sholtis; one sister, Sue Killian; and one nephew, Dwight Watson.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Williams Sholtis, whom he married September 18, 1955; his sons, James R. (Sheila) Sholtis of Caldwell and Anthony B. Sholtis of Sarahsville; 8 grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) McLean, Eric (Amber) Sholits, Heath (Hannah) Sholtis, Sierra (Cole) Giesey, Josh (Dani) Sholtis, Dakota (Lydia) Ginn, Karyssa (Brent) Miller, and Deryk Ginn (Shasta Roberts) ; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Joyce) Sholtis of Caldwell; 4 nieces; and 2 nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a Masonic service will conclude visitation at 8PM. The funeral service will be observed Sunday, December 13th at 2PM with Pastor Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery. Guests are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing at all gatherings as required by the state of Ohio.
