Jack R. Echols, age 85, of Lower Salem, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at his home. He was born December 29, 1923, in Irondale, Ohio, son of the late Albert and Eve Smith Echols. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served with General George Patton in Europe, and at the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from the Noble County Engineer?s office. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Long Echols. Surviving are his children, John R. (Denise) Echols of Copley, Donald (Elaine) Echols of Brunswick, Connie (Fred) Kruez of Euclid, Martin (Charlene) Echols of Georgia, William (Lori) Echols of Cambridge, Dave (Rhonda) Echols and Carol (Shawna) Maxwell, both of Harriettsville; 8 grandchildren, John, Kelly, Richard, Anthony, Jessica, Danielle, Samantha, and Marissa; and 6 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 10AM-12PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 12PM with Pastor Dale Hunt officiating.
