Obituary for J. R. Brown, Sr.
J.R. Brown, Sr., age 78, of Caldwell, Ohio died Thursday moorning (9/19/2002) at Hospice of Genesis in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born 9/19/1924 in Logan, Ohio a son of the late Joseph M. & Josephine E. Shaw Brown. He had owned and operated J.R. Brown, Sr. Trucking in Caldwell for 59 years; was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the European Theater of Operations; was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, Ohio and was a life member of VFW Post #4721. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Marguerite Derr Brown whom he married 9/19/1942 and who died 6/23/1991; 1 grandson and 1 nephew. Surviving are 3 daughters Bonnie (Lewis) Glidden of Canton, Ohio, Diana (Matt) Svercek of Caldwell, Ohio and Melissa (Charles) Clark of Caldwell, Ohio; 3 sons Joseph R. (Stana) Brown, Jr. of Sarahsville, Ohio, James R. Brown of Cambridge, Ohio and John 'Tom' (Teresa) Brown of Caldwell, Ohio; 2 sisters Mary Jo (Pat) Donahue of Springfield, Ohio, Karen Ann (Gary) Hilton of Pickerington, Ohio; 1 brother Thomas H. (Mary Ann) Brown of Sandusky, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Friends may call Friday (9/20/2002) FROM 2 to 9 PM (with the family prestent 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM) at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home , 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, where services will be held on Saturday (9/21/2002) at 1:00 PM with the Revs. Ken & Susan Hyland officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio. Caldwell Post #4721 VFW will conduct military graveside services.
