J. Norrene Hively, age 97, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at her home. She was born January 10, 1916, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Jessie Edna Robinson Bird. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School, and over the years, she was employed as a waitress at The Home Restaurant in Caldwell, as a cook for Buffalo Rural School, and as an Avon sales representative. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, and she attended the Pleasant City United Methodist Church and its Builders Class, and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church’s Ladies Aid. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hively; one sister, Geneva Porter; and two brothers, Jerry Bird, and an infant brother, Desmond Bird, who died at birth. Surviving are one daughter, Karen Addie Hively of Pleasant City; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, July 21, 2013, from 2-6PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, July 22, 2013, at 1PM with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant City Cemetery.
