Obituary for Ivan Glenn Mitchell
Ivan Glenn Mitchell, age 67, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at his residence following a six month battle with brain cancer. He was born June 10, 1937, in Renrock, Ohio, son of the late Howard and Celeste Moore Mitchell. He served with the Ohio National Guard, and retired as a field engineer with 45 years of service with the Dana Corporation Manufacturing Facility located at Caldwell. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell, and the Motor Menders Car Club at Zanesville, and was a former member of the Belle Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Mitchell was an avid custom car showman, having owned a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Low Rider, for which he had won many trophies. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Carlos Knicely, and a brother, Virgil Mitchell. Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Beer Mitchell, whom he married July 22, 1996; one daughter, Mrs. Tim (Cindy) Wehr of Caldwell; three step-daughters, Robin S. Dean of Zanesville, Mrs. Dave (Tina C.) Griffon of Bellville, and Traci M. Barnett White of Cuyahoga Falls; four step-sons, R. Michael (Donna) Lynn of Mt. Vernon, Tony Barnett of Chicago, John A. (Annette) Lynn of McConnellsville, and Rodney J. Lynn of Zanesville; one brother, Howard (Delores) Mitchell of Zanesville; one sister-in-law, Geri Mitchell of Zanesville; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, February 28, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where a Christian Scripture Service will be held at 7:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell, with Fr. Dale Tornes as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Caldwell.
