Obituary for Itol Pearl Waite
Itol Pearl Waite, age 85, of Cumberland, Ohio, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville. She was born February 10, 1933, in Renrock, Noble County, daughter of the late Omar Vernon and Itol Belle Combs Reed. She was a 1951 graduate of Manchester School in Reinersville. Pearl was employed by Fuqua Homes, and she retired as a cook and a custodian from Muskingum University in New Concord. While there, she also took care of the president’s home. She was a member of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. Pearl enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and she made many of her children’s clothing as they were growing up. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and she did a lot of canning.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James David Waite, Jr., whom she married March 4, 1951, and who died August 31, 2017; one son, Joseph B. Waite, who died October 28, 2013; two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Clark and Joel Law; one sister, Mary Bickford; and three brothers, Vernon, Roy, and James Reed.
Surviving are her children, Linda D. (Larry) Clark of Reinersville, Debora E. (Jim) Ray of McConnelsville, Mike (Carolyn) Waite of Cumberland, and Karen E. (David) Law of Caldwell; a daughter-in-law, Velma I. Waite of Byesville; one brother, Floyd Z. (Barbara) Reed of Chandlersville; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1PM with Pastor David Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Ark Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Free Methodist Church, 221 Cumberland Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
