Obituary for Homer L. Bruffey
Homer L. Bruffey, age 84, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at his home. He was born December 5, 1934, in Webster County, West Virginia, son of the late James Norman and Bessie Jane McCartney Bruffy. He retired from the Chevrolet Plant in Parma and following retirement, operated a cattle farm near Fulda. Homer was a member of the Caldwell Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was proud to have taken an elk in Idaho in 2014. He was also an accomplished gardener, and he loved his dogs, having owned beagles and border collies. He enjoyed talking to people and never knew a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his second wife, Rose Marie Gregory Bruffey; and three brothers, Shorty Bruffy, John Bruffy, and Lawrence Bruffy.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon L. Styers Bruffey, whom he married May 24, 2008; his children, Carol (Dennis) Kellenberger of Clearwater, Florida, and Larry L. Bruffey of Palm Harbor, Florida; his step-children, Andrewa Cutlip (Lynn Brinkman) of Brunswick, Ohio, Starla Dahlquist of Billings, Montana, and Sean M. Dingess of Columbus, Ohio; his siblings, Nelson (Peachy) Bruffy of West Union, West Virginia, Mary Helen Mazzo of Athol, Idaho, Alice Belle Brown of Morgantown, West Virginia, Janet Cochran of Hayes, Virginia, Naomi Clutter of West Salem, Ohio, Ellen Ann (Danny) Givens of Roseburg, Oregon, Charlotte (Jerry) Jeffrey of Bluffton, South Carolina, Karen Hall of Shelbyville, West Virginia, and Vee “Verna Mae” Nistendirk of Georgetown, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, July 18, 2019, from 4PM-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, July 19th at 11AM with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Fulda. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to consider planting a tree in Homer’s memory.
