Obituary for Herman Gray, Sr.
Herman Gray, Sr., age 84, formerly of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and a resident of Caldwell, Ohio, and Summit Acres Nursing Home, died Thursday morning, October 18, 2007, at the nursing home. He was born February 17, 1923, in Brenizer, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, son of the late Alexander Robinson and Emma Clark Gray. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater of Operations in five major campaigns. He was a retired employee of the General Motors-Chevrolet Parma Transmission Press Metal Plant in Parma, Ohio. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Leona K. Baker Gray, who died September 3, 1976; his second wife, June Hahn Gray; five sisters, Margaret Leonard, Viola Christofano, Clara Kovylecki, Sarah Sampson and Loretta Green; and two brothers, Abe and Jim Gray. Surviving are three sons, Herman (Veronica) Gray, Jr. of Caldwell, Edward L. (Carole) Gray, and Gary Q. (Pamela) Gray of Greenwich, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Friends may call Sunday, October 21, 2007, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where Vigil Services will be held at 8:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 22, 2007, at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, with the Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at 1PM at West Park Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
