Herbert Edward Brown,, age 71, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born September 12, 1940, in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late C. Edward and Daisy I. Piatt Brown. He was a United States Army veteran, and he retired from the Ames True Temper plant in Dexter City. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell. Mr. Brown enjoyed playing cards, and in his younger years, he enjoyed turkey shoots. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Forest Brown. Surviving are his wife, Verna Stewart Brown, whom he married June 11, 2005; his children, Linda Joy (Mike) Reed of Caldwell, Rhonda Gay (Edwin) Tilton of Pleasant City, and Neal Richard (Connie) Huffman of Caldwell; three sisters, Betty Marie Brown of Dublin, Mary Lou Stimpert of Lewisville, and Monnie Sue (Tom) Poling of Junction City; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. No vistation or funeral service will be observed at this time. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
