Obituary for Helen E. Crum
Helen E. Crum, age 86, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born May 27, 1930, at her family home in Monroe County, daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary Burkhardt Marshall. Mrs. Crum was a 1949 graduate of Bethel High School in Marr. She was employed as a cook at the Fulda School until its closing, and she was also employed as a housekeeper for St. Mary’s Parish rectory for 32 years. She owned and operated Fulda Catering from 1987 to 2009. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda and she was a member and past president of its Catholic Women’s Club. She also served as an advisor for the Fulda Hilltoppers 4-H Club for 25 years. She loved to cook, quilt, crochet, and create beaded crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Delbert F. Crum, who died January 16, 2009; four brothers, Harry, Ralph, Lawrence, and John Marshall; one sister, Ava Miller; three brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.
Surviving are one son, Mark (Sherrie) Crum of Queen Creek, Arizona; three daughters, Rebecca Hill, Barbara (Ronald) Crum and Brenda Michel, all of Caldwell; one sister, Sue Behrendt of Canton; one sister-in-law, Vivian Marshall Piatt; three grandsons, Travis (Angela) Crum, Jeremy Hill, and Derek (Ashley) Crum; three granddaughters, Kelly (Mike) Goodman, Tiffany Myers and Kandi Hastings; 11 great-grandchildren, Landon, Nathaniel, Gavin, Austin, Braxton, Parker, Taylor, Hayden, Hartley, Alli and Abri; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, December 26, 2016, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will follow vistation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Tuesday, December 27th at 10AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Chester Pabin as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org or to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
