Obituary for Hazel D. Courts
Hazel D. Courts, age 70, of Senecaville, Ohio, formerly of Brunswick, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at her home. She was born January 28, 1938, in Chapmanville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Les and Jesse Sparks Sparks. She was a graduate of Chapmanville High School, and she attended business college in Huntington, West Virginia. She was employed as a legal secretary for several judges and prosecuting attorneys. She was also a homemaker, and a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, baking, and cooking. Hazel was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved God and her family, and she made both priorities in her life. Her strengths were love, faith, and her humble spirit, which made her special to many. We have not lost this lovely woman, but we know exactly where she is now, in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ. We are thankful to know that we will see her again. Surviving are her husband, James P. Courts, whom she married December 26, 1965; three daughters, Cathy A. (Bruce) Collier of Brunswick, Patricia G. (Alex) Vega of Cleveland, and Linda S. Courts-Swick of Wadsworth; one son, David P. Courts of Senecaville; one sister, Thelma Maynard of Madison, West Virginia; three brothers, Stanley (Maxine) Sparks and Vernon (Betha) Sparks, both of Chapmanville, West Virginia, and Clyde (Nora Lee) Sparks of Big Creek, West Virginia; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, November 28, 2008, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29th at 11AM with Pastor Tom Gruver officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P. O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio, 43725.
