Obituary for Harry L. Barlow
Harry L. Barlow, age 90, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born December 11, 1917, in Washington County, Ohio, son of the late Otto and Stella Smith Barlow. He was a 1935 graduate of the former Macksburg High School, and he was retired from the Ohio State Highway Department. He was formerly employed by Peaker Run Coal Company. He attended the Macksburg United Methodist Church, and he was a member of the Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, the Valley of Cambridge AASR, 32nd degree Mason, and the Laurel Grange. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna E. Cobb Barlow, whom he married February 26, 1938, and who died December 2, 2002; two daughters, Beverly and Carolyn Barlow; two granddaughters, Darla and Carla McKown; one sister, Ruth Shimmel; and three brothers, Clyde, Dwight, and Clifford Barlow. Surviving are one daughter, Judy (Dean) McKown of Marietta; two sons, Paul (Mary) Barlow and Jerry (Becky) Barlow, both of Dexter City; his grandchildren, Melinda Stack of Caldwell, Doug (Cheryl) Barlow of Dexter City, Paula (Bobby) Larrick of Caldwell, Peggy (Trent) West of Sarahsville, Patsy (Jim) Lombardo of Mentor, Gene McKown of Cambridge, Rick McKown of Marietta, and Mary Ellen Whipkey of Marietta; his great-grandchildren, Tiffiny Sidwell and Tina Barlow of Dexter City, Derricke, Devin, and Damien Stack of Caldwell, Justin and Morgan Stellfox of Caldwell, Kimberly and Daniel West of Sarahsville, Kenny McKown of Lowell, and Michael Yonker and Hope Larrick of Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24th at 1PM with Pastor Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Ridge Cemetery near Macksburg. A Masonic service will be observed Tuesday at 7:30PM.
