Obituary for Harold D. Forshey
Harold D. Forshey, age 82, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at The Arbors at Marietta. He was born July 7, 1935, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Blanche Mallett Forshey. He was a 1953 graduate of Harriettsville High School, where he played basketball. Harold retired from the former Dana Corporation plant in Caldwell, and he had also been employed by Donald Morris Lumber and operated a dairy farm. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local #4836. Harold was an excellent woodworker, having crafted many handmade grandfather clocks and cedar chests. He enjoyed mowing his yard and he loved to work in his “piddle shop.”
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine E. Rhodes Forshey, whom he married July 10, 1954, and who died March 13, 2005; one son, Ronnie H. Forshey, who died in January 22, 2012; one sister, Donna Dee Rossiter; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Brady Dean and Faye Forshey and Ronald and Shirley Forshey.
Surviving are one daughter, Cindy L. Pate (Jerry Huffman) of Williamstown, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Cara Beth Pate of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Cali Anne (Adam) Harlow of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Casi Lynn (Joshua) Evans of Fayetteville, West Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Kaiden A. Jae, Kailynn E. Jae, and Charlotte W. Pate, Josephine Lynn Harlow, and Emery Anne Evans; his siblings, Joan (Harold) Nau of Wooster, Darlene (Thurman) Kehl of Grove City, and Carl David (Sue) Forshey of Green Cove Springs, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Friends may call Friday, December 8, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, December 9th at 11AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital, the Hospice of Marietta, administration and staff at The Arbors at Marietta; and most especially the kind and caring nurses and aides at The Arbors.
