Obituary for Goldie Louise Tharp King
Goldie Louise Tharp King, age 79, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. She was born April 27, 1930, in Newark, daughter of the late David W. and Sarah E. Greene Tharp. She was a 1948 graduate of New Lexington High School and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed volunteering in the library at Caldwell Elementary School. Mrs. King was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and a member of the New Lexington Armenella Rebekah Lodge. She was also a founding member of the Caldwell T.O.P.S. Club. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene V. King, whom she married February 3, 1951, and who died July 18, 1989; and her siblings, Clara Tharp, Samuel Tharp, Marilyn Dickerson, and William Tharp. Surviving are her children, Phyllis A. Davidson of Caldwell, Lori J. (Jeff) Miller of Freeport, and Mark S. (Debbie) King of Caldwell; one brother-in-law, Paul A. King of New Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Marge (Ralph) Moore of New Lexington and Dorothy (Frank) Henze of Columbus; three grandchildren, Ryan C. Davidson (Lydie M. Lecomte), Meredith L. King (Steve Greathouse), and Gretchen E. King, all of Caldwell; three step-grandchildren, Kevin (Jamie) Miller of Freeport, Brian Miller of Sebring, and Renee (John) Share of Coshocton; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will follow at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Wednesday, January 13th at 11AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at 3:30PM at Maplewood Cemetery in New Lexington.
