Obituary for Gloria Welcome McCollum Hazel
Gloria Welcome McCollum Hazel, age 83, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville. She was born December 21, 1929, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, daughter of the late Samuel Curtis and Mary E. Craig McCollum. She was a 1948 graduate of Southside High School in Ft. Wayne. Mrs. Hazel was a member of the Caldwell Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Eastern Star Chapter #30, Noble County Performing Arts, The Cambridge Singers, and the Dexter City American Legion Post #418. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, and attended the First Presbyterian Church and St. Stephen Catholic Church, all of Caldwell. She was a beloved mother and homemaker, and she enjoyed music, especially singing for people in churches and community programs in the area. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Hazel, whom she married February 27, 1951, and who died February 7, 1996; and an infant sister, Mary Alice McCollum. Surviving are one daughter, Theodora L. “Teddy” Hazel (Tom Tereau) of Cardington; one grandson, Mark Allen (Denisa) Kackstetter of San Diego, California; and one great-grandson, Max Milan Kackstetter. Friends may call Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 1PM with Pastor Jim Fernihough officiating.
