Obituary for Gladys Lillian Seffens
Gladys Lillian Seffens, age 102, of Caldwell, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at her home. She was born January 12, 1904, near Derwent, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph Wilson and Laura Effie Whitlatch McKim. She was a homemaker and a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church for 68 years, and a member of its United Methodist Women, the Homebuilders Sunday School Class, and the Libby Martin Circle. She was also a member of the Noble Rebekah Lodge #376 for 58 years, and a member of the Merrimakers Home Demonstration Club and the Narcissus Club. She worked for many years for the Noble County Board of Elections, and was a chairman for the Heart Fund of Ohio. She received many awards for her volunteer work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Seffens, who died in 1963; one son, Ralph Seffens, who died in 1961; one brother, Clyde McKim; and two sisters, Opal Waddell and Viola Smith. Surviving are a son, Donald (Maxine) Seffens of Norwalk; one daughter-in-law, Norma Rauch of Columbus; one grandson, Alan (Melissa) Seffens of Upper Arlington; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ty (Debra) Montag of Grove City; one step-granddaughter, Mrs. Mark (Susan) Leitz of Willard; one step-grandson, Terry Frost of Tampa, Florida; one great-grandson, Shade Seffens of Upper Arlington; and three nieces and one nephew. Friends may call Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be held Friday, October 13 at 11AM with Pastor Gary Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorials may be made to the Caldwell United Methodist Church - 537 Main Street - Caldwell, Ohio 43724.
