Obituary for Gertrude Elizabeth Miller
Gertrude E. Miller, age 80, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born April 2, 1929, in Canton, daughter of the late Byron and Bernice Murray Marquis. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School and the Columbus Beauty Academy. She formerly owned and operated the Norwood Beauty Salon in Marietta and a beauty shop in her home in Caldwell. She taught cosmetology for Mid-East Career Centers at both Zanesville and Buffalo campuses, as well as the Washington County Career Center. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed working crossword and jig-saw puzzles, gardening, baking, and cake decorating. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Edna Hicks. Surviving are her husband, William U. Miller, whom she married May 18, 1951; five sons, Gregory L. (Terry) Miller of Evansville, Indiana, Marquis A. (Becky) Miller of Sharon, Roger D. (Peggy) Miller of Quaker City, Theadore L. (Tina) Miller of Marietta and Kevin W. (Donna) Miller of Johnstown; one daughter, Michelle R. Miller of San Diego, California; three sisters, Irene Dudley of Caldwell, Barbara (Dale) Shriver of Tuscarawas, and Virginia Cramblett of Canton; a half-sister, Beverly (Harlow) Watson of Canton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Friday, March 26, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, March 27th at 11AM with the Pastor Helen Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery.
