George William Moore, age 89, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Cedar Hills Nursing Home in Zanesville. He was born February 19, 1922, in Caldwell, Ohio, son of the late Emmett and Blanche DeVolld Moore. He was a graduate of Caldwell High School and he was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II from 1943-1945. He retired from the Ohio Power Plant in Philo following 30 years of service. In earlier years, he enjoyed remodelling homes with his daughter and son-in-law, Star and Richard. He enjoyed woodworking and working outdoors. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Perkins Moore, who died October 1, 2010; one sister, Frances Moore; and two brothers, Virgil and Albert Moore. Surviving are one daughter, Star (Richard) Martin of Zanesville; two sons, Tim (Dixie) Patterson and Glenn (Phyllis) Moore, both of Zanesville; four grandchildren; and six-great-grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, December 16, 2011, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, December 17th at 11AM, followed by military honors presented by the Noble County Veteran Service Organization.
