Obituary for George P. Morgareidge
George P. Morgareidge, age 78, of Caldwell died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born September 25, 1932 in Urbana, Ohio, a son of the late Forest I. and Mary P. Pryor Morgareidge. He was a 1951 graduate of Caldwell High School and a veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1952 to 1956. George had worked as a Linotype Operator for The Journal Leader in Caldwell for 13 years and retired from the former Dana Company Plant in Caldwell. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Caldwell where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendant, deacon and song leader. George filmed Caldwell High School basketball and football games for several years, was a member and past commander of Caldwell Post #4721 VFW, and was a former member of Noble County Performing Arts. He loved his family, church and church family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Helen Louise Harmon.
Surviving are his wife Margaret A. Ickes Morgareidge, whom he married February 24, 1957; one daughter Lana S. (Andy) Varhola of Belle Valley; one son George A. (Cheryl) Morgareidge of Caldwell; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, July 25, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 1 PM with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery with military graveside honors presented by Noble County veteran service organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 518 North Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, to assist in building a multi- purpose building at Pine Lake Camp.
