George Otis Beckett, age 89, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born July 25, 1916, in Sharon, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Lola Lorenze Beckett. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. He was also a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, David Beckett. Surviving are his wife, Donna Lee Wells Beckett; one son, Dave (Karen) Davis of Lancaster, Ohio; two daughters, Janet Bailey of Caldwell and Mrs. Karl (Jayne) Crum of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday, January 5, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Friday, January 6 at 1PM with Pastor Dave Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell, with military graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veterans Services Organizations.
