Obituary for Genevieve C. "Genny" Saling
Genevieve C. “Genny” Saling, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born January 3, 1925, in Fulda, daughter of the late Ignatius and Eleanor Schott Miller. She was employed by Summit Acres Nursing Home and by Weather Seal. Genny was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and its Catholic Women’s Club, and she was also a member of the Caldwell Moose Lodge #221. She enjoyed needlepoint, and she loved to work outside and care for her yard.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Saling, whom she married August 13, 1942, and who died in 2001; one daughter, Carol Saling Heavner, who died in 1999; one son, Mike Saling, who died in 1970; three sisters, Bernadette Miller, Coletta Estadt, and Alberta Hall; and four brothers, Bernard Miller, Rupert Miller, Virgil Miller, and Herman Miller.
Surviving are her children, John E. (Sue) Saling of Caldwell, Janet M. Saling of Caldwell, Sandy L. Arbogast of Kidron, Melinda S. (Greg) Antill of Caldwell, Roxanne L. (Ron) Reed of Sarahsville, and Mona M. Saling of Caldwell; two sisters, Marie Archer of Elyria and Vera Oliver of Mt. Vernon; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step-great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, July 23, 2017, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, July 24th at 10AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant.
