Obituary for Fred F. Fox
Fred F. Fox, age 95, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at his home. He was born July 8, 1916, near Fulda, son of the late Ignatz and Barbara Gerst Fox. He was a 1933 graduate of Fulda High School, and he was a World War II Army veteran, having been drafted in March, 1941. He was accepted into the Army Air Corps and became a gunner on a B-29 bomber. Mr. Fox then graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1950, and went on to practice law in Caldwell for over 60 years. In 1953, he served the first of three terms as Noble County Prosecuting Attorney. He served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Adlai Stevenson was elected to oppose Dwight Eisenhower. He closed his practice in 2011 at the age of 94. Mr. Fox was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, the Father Kleuber Council, Knights of Columbus, #2656, the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, and the Ohio Bar Association. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies in Canada, Florida, Lake Erie, and many local fishing holes. He was known for his integrity, his big smile, and friendly nature. He was much loved by many friends at the Noble County Courthouse and throughout Noble County. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Grueser Beaty Fox, who died July 31, 1984; three sisters, Florentine Schell, Irene Fox, and Rita Cua; and one brother, Claude Fox. Surviving are his step-son, Robert (Diana) Beaty of Caldwell; one sister, Marcella A. Paxton of Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, April 2, 2012, at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Father Wayne Morris as celebrant. A military graveside service will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Fulda conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
