Franklin Harry Powers, age 81, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres after a long illness. Franklin was born February 11, 1943, in Marietta, son of the late Harry and Lucille Powers. He was a 1961 graduate of Richwood High School in Richwood, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia, and a Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. He taught science at Caldwell High School for 32 years and at Washington State Community College in the nursing department for 10 years. He was also a paramedic instructor for several years. Franklin was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons, Russell (Janet) Powers of Caldwell and Phillip (Jennifer) Powers of Columbus; two grandsons, Aaron (Andrea) Powers of Reno, Nevada, and Deven Powers of Caldwell; and one brother, Keith (Tara) Powers of Richwood.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday, April 17th at 11AM with Brent Smith and Bob Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell High School Band, 516 Fairground Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724, or to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 24, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
