Obituary for Florence Irene DeLancey
Florence Irene DeLancey, age 95, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born September 20, 1917, in Meigs Twp., High Hill, daughter of the late James A. and Sadie Grace Huffman Gill. She was a graduate of Meigs High School. Mrs. DeLancey retired as a cook from Belle Valley School, and she was also employed as a custodian for GMN, and by the Noble County Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church, and the Dexter City American Legion Post #418. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and traveling. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl DeLancey, whom she married March 31, 1937, and who died March 2, 1982; and two brothers, James and Allen Gill. Surviving are two sons, Carl E. (Jayne) DeLancey of Marietta and Ralph W. (Hope) DeLancey of Belle Valley; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from 5-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, January 3rd at 11AM with Pastors Larry Copley and Bob Buckley officiating. Burial will follow at Ark Springs Cemetery.
