Obituary for F. Dale McMullen
F. Dale McMullen, age 72, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born December 19, 1938, in Cambridge, son of the late Herbert and Lucille Guthrie McMullen. He was a 1956 graduate of Cambridge High School. Along with his wife, Judy, he owned and operated Worl Thompson Motors in Caldwell, and he was formerly employed as a manager for Lilienthal\'s Southeastern Printing in Cambridge. He was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, and he was a lay delegate for the East Ohio Conference. He was a former president and director of the Noble County Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Wilds and a member of the Community Advisory Committee for the Noble Correctional Institution. Dale enjoyed golfing with his friends, his Saturday morning breakfast group, singing in the Christmas cantata, and he was an enthusiastic spectator at his grandchildren\'s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Davis McMullen, whom he married March 26, 1983; two daughters, Lori (George) Tolbert and Lisa Hurst (Scott McLaughlin), both of Cambridge, and their mother, Judy Sneddon of Cambridge; three step-children, Meg (George) Haller of Granville, Molly Watson of Athens, and Christopher (Donna) Watson of Piedmont; one grandson, Tyler S. Hurst of Cambridge; seven step-grandchildren, Ibrahim Watson of Athens, David Tolbert, Jeremy Tolbert, Nichole Tolbert, and Stephen Tolbert (Heather Roth), all of Cambridge, and Kelsey Haller and Kirsten Haller, both of Granville; 4 step-great-grandchildren; one niece, Kerri McMullen; two nephews, Jon Ansberry and Jason Ansberry; one sister, Connie Ansberry of Cambridge; one brother, Tom (Joyce) McMullen of Cambridge; his father-in-law, William Davis of Caldwell; and his beloved dog, Nigel.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell and Friday from 9-11AM at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 537 Main Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 11AM with Pastors Jim Cooper and Larry Hukill officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell United Methodist Church, or to the Noble County Community Foundation, c/o 150 Court House, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
