Obituary for Everett F. 'Pete' Smith
Everett F. “Pete” Smith, Jr., age 69, Belle Valley, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at his home. He was born January 28, 1943, in Cambridge, Ohio, son of the late Everett F. and Ruth M. McDonald Smith, Sr. He retired as a ward tech with the Cambridge Developmental Center, and he was a member of the Belle Valley Post #641, Sons of the American Legion, for which he served as fiscal officer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kiera Hesson. Surviving are his wife, Jean Niswonger Smith, whom he married in March, 1978; four daughters, Kim K. Hesson of Caldwell, Denise R. (Brian) Clark of Caldwell, Amanda K. Glasgow of North Carolina, and Kelly J. (Jonathan) Mika of Caldwell; one brother, Robert C. Smith of Jolliet, Illinois; 10 grandchildren: Sandi, Adam, Jordan, Sara, Megan, Kelsey, Brandon, Haylee, Emily and Karrie; and 3 great-grandchildren: Cole, Kiera and Abbi. Friends may call Friday, August 24, 2012, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, August 25th at 11AM with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery near Ava. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belle Valley Post #641, Sons of the American Legion, P.O. Box 192, Belle Valley, Ohio, 43717, or to the Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio, 43725.
