Ernest William Spicer, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at his home. He was born November 28, 1929, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Clarence and Annabelle Sayers Spicer. He retired from Marietta Coal Company in St. Clairsville, and he attended the former Fredericksdale United Brethren Church. He loved farming, and he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Donald Eugene Spicer; and an infant sister. Surviving are his wife, Countess L. Henry Spicer, whom he married November 16, 1955; his children, Debra L. Sanford of Caldwell, Mae (Charles) Wittenbrook of Caldwell, Kay (Ray) Touvell of Lore City, Christine Spicer (Chris Sills) of Lewisville, and Diana Wittenbrook of Caldwell; one sister, Ethel Jean (Henry) Abrams of Pleasant City; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 4-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 7PM with Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating.
