Obituary for Emily Margaret Chicwak
Emily Margaret Chicwak, age 97, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, December 16, 2016, at Genesis Hospice in Zanesville. She was born November 23, 1919, in Noble County, daughter of the late George and Susie Safigan Wuletich. She was a 1937 graduate of Caldwell High School, and she was a beloved mother and homemaker. She was employed as a waitress at The Fern Restaurant many years ago, and she was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and its Catholic Women’s Club. She was a volunteer aide at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, and she loved working word search puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mike “Smoky” Chicwak, whom she married in 1938, and who died May 31, 1973; one daughter, Susan Janice Chicwak; five sisters, Agnes Erwin, Katherine Johnson, Virginia Bechtol, Mary Ann Michel, and Betty Wuletich; an infant brother, Peter Wuletich; and one daughter-in-law, Joan Chicwak.
Surviving are her children, Robert M. Chicwak of Skipwith, West Virginia, Caroline J. (Earl) Gadd of Zanesville, Sharon A. (Jerry) Miller of Frazeysburg, Rosemary Chicwak of Los Angeles, California, Larry D. (Mary) Chicwak, Mark R. (Monica) Chicwak, and Teresa G. Chicwak, all of Caldwell, and Kevin A. (Terri) Chicwak of Pleasant City; two brothers, David Emil (Mary) Wuletich of Charleston, West Virginia and Ed Wuletich of Caldwell; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Friends may call Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will follow visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, December 19th at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris and Deacon David Wuletich officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.
