Obituary for Elsie McConnell
Elsie McConnell age 91, of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon (4/15/2003), at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. She was born 12/24/1911 at Trail Run, Guernsey County, Ohio a daughter of the late William & Nellie McConahay Bates. She was a former employee of the Caldwell Produce and had worked as a cook for the Guernsey County Home and Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly. She was a member of Bates Hill Church of Christ at Sarahsville and Amazon Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star at Caldwell. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Chelcie McConnell who died in 1962; 2 sons John Hubert and Larry Dean McConnell; 3 brothers Russell, Edward and Kenneth Bates and 2 sisters Gertrude Hayman and Jeanette Franklin. Surviving are 2 sons Ronald L. McConnell of Mt. Ephraim and Terry D. (Sharon) McConnell of Caldwell; 1 sister Lucille Bates Cunningham of North Fort Myers, Florida; a sister-in-law Dorothy Bates of Cambridge; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday (4/17/2003) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio where services will be held on Friday (4/18/2003) at 11:00 AM with Evangelist Flavil Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery.
