Obituary for Elsie A. Cooper
Elsie A. Cooper, age 77, of Lore City, Ohio, formerly of Pleasant City, died Monday, September 16, 2013, at Country View Assisted Living in Lore City. She was born May 12, 1936, in Gilbert, West Virginia, daughter of the late Miles Harvey and Letty Lora Simpson Rife, Sr. She was employed from 1968-1978 by NCR in Cambridge, and she was also employed by the Shenandoah Egg Farm. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed gardening, singing gospel music, playing cards, cooking, and attending auctions and family gatherings. She also loved working the land with her husband, Burton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Burton H. Cooper, whom she married October 4, 1952, and who died March 22, 2013; two brothers, Sherrod Randolph “Buster” Rife and Miles Harvey Rife, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Teresa Smith Cooper; and a great-grandson, Stephen Arsenault. Surviving are her children, Drema K. (Gale) Elkins of Pleasant City, Barry L. (Deidre) Cooper of North Carolina, Terry K. (Brenda) Cooper of Cambridge, Kyle D. Cooper of Pleasant City, and Burton D. “Randy” (Debbie) Cooper of Virginia; two sisters, Audrey Rife Hale of Claypool Hill, Virginia, and Ethel Rife Meeks of Harts, West Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Jonathan, Rebecca, Brian, Renee, Myles, Blake, Megan, Shawn, Jeremy and Joshua; 9 great-grandchildren, Valor, Noah, Lilian “Lili”, Danielle, Courtney, Kylie, Cody, Anthony, and Ian; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 9-11AM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating.
