Obituary for Elroy A. Schroeder
Elroy A. Schroeder, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born November 1, 1926 in Fairmount, North Dakota, son of the late Emil and Barbara Neubauer Schroeder. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and he was a retired farmer, having owned and operated a family farm in Noble County for many years. Mr. Schroeder worked as a security guard at the former Glacier-Vandervell Company Plant in Caldwell. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and Noble County Right to Life. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Mae White Schroeder, who died June 23, 1955; one son, Philip Schroeder, who died in 1994; one grandson, Timothy Schroeder; three sisters, Mabel Radke, Julia Leavitt and Lillian Brunkhorst; and four brothers, Daniel, Harold, Willard and Johnny Schroeder. Surviving are his wife, Bertha A. Saling Schroeder, whom he married April 30, 1960; three daughters, Patricia A. Schroeder of Dexter City, Rebecca J. (Jim) Khune of Caldwell, and Sharon E. (Doug) Bettinger of Sharon; two sons, Elroy A. (Pam) Schroeder, Jr. of Montpelier and Anthony L. (Chris) Schroeder of Sarahsville; one sister, Louise Pausch of Fairmount, North Dakota; one brother, Elmer Schroeder of Breckinridge, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 2-8 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where Christian Scripture Services will follow at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 23rd at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell. Military honors will be presented by the Noble County Veteran Services Organization.
