Obituary for Elmer L. Saling
Elmer L. Saling, age 76, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, November 13, 2009, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born March 3, 1933, in Noble County, son of the late Felix and Clara Fogle Saling. He was a United States Army veteran, and he was formerly employed as dozer operator for Crock Construction. He retired as a press operator from the former Dana Corporation plant in Caldwell. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda, and a member of the Caldwell Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Cora Bond Saling, who died May 5, 1996; one sister, Mary Evelyn Arnold; and five brothers, Clem, Bernard, Herman, Bill and Gerald ?Trix? Saling. Surviving are four sons, Darrell L. (Sandra) Saling of Fulda, G. Alan (Kelly) Saling of Cumberland, Christopher W. (Erin) Saling of Caldwell, and James Elmer Saling of Fulda; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Monday, November 16, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, followed by a Christian Scripture service at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Tuesday, November 17th at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Thomas Hamm as celebrant. A military graveside service will follow at St. Marys Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Services Organization.
