Obituary for Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Boyd
Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Boyd, age 89, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell after a short illness. She was born May 2, 1925, in Caldwell, daughter of the late William and Amy Rucker. She retired from Gateway Market, and she formerly worked at Kroger’s in Caldwell. She was also owner and operator of Boyd’s Neighborhood Store on Walnut Street. She worked 55 years in the grocery business. She attended Caldwell Schools and the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell. Beth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, reading, and working with her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clare E. Boyd, who died November 12, 1962; a sister, Mary Eileen Ball; two brothers, James and Thomas Rucker; a niece, Janet Ball; and two nephews, Larry and Thomas Rucker.
Surviving are her son, Donald Boyd and his wife, Judy, of Caldwell; a granddaughter, Colleen Smith and her husband, Randy, and his son, Aden of Caldwell; a grandson, Kevin Boyd, and his fiancé, Erin, and her children, Kylie and Kade of Zanesville; two great-grandchildren, Molly and Noah Scheich of Caldwell; a sister, Dorothy Clark of Cambridge; a special aunt, Edith Wentworth of Cambridge; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call Friday, May 23rd, 2014, from 4-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, May 24th at 1PM with Merlin Wentworth officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, 215 West Street, P.O. Box 24, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
