Obituary for Eleanor S. Hayes
Eleanor S. Hayes, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. She was born March 14, 1916, in Fulda, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank A. and Julia Ehlerman Smith. She was a 1933 graduate of the former St. Ursula Academy in Caldwell. She was a retired beautician, having owned and operated Eleanor's Beauty Shop in Caldwell for forty years. She was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ and Olive Homemakers Club. She was an accomplished artist, having completed over 150 paintings. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Gerald Hayes, whom she married December 15, 1938, and who died July 13, 1999; two sisters, Beatrice Smith and Adelia Estadt; and two brothers, Norbert and Julius Smith. Surviving are one daughter, Patsy (Armand 'Bud') Mayer of Saline, Michigan; two sons, Jeffrey B. (Linda) Hayes of Greensboro, North Carolina and John T. (Karen) Hayes of Westerville; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; three nieces and one nephew. Friends may call Monday, September 22, 2008, from 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at 11AM with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell.
