Obituary for Dorthy I. Fannin
Dorthy I. Fannin, age 82, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. She was born August 21, 1931, in Beverly, daughter of the late Walter and Mary Miller Fish. She was a 1950 graduate of Sarahsville High School, and she retired as a case manager for the Noble County Department of Job and Family Services. Mrs. Fannin was a member of the Sarahsville United Methodist Church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was past president and member of the GMN Community Action Board and past president and member of the Mid-East Vocational School Board. She was also served as president and member of the Noble Local School Board for two terms, she served as the Shenandoah Athletic Booster’s treasurer, she was a member of the Zep Band Booster Club, the Sarahsville School Alumni Committee, the Sarahsville Town Council, and the Sarahsville Sesquicentennial Celebration committee. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and cooking, and she loved her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Fannin, whom she married April 7, 1951, and who died August 6, 2011; one daughter, Peggy Jo Fannin; one son, Charles W. Fish; three grandchildren, Chuckie, Jackie, and Christina Fish; one brother, Walter D. “Buddy” Fish; and one daughter-in-law, Mildred Fish.
Surviving are her children, Stacy J. (David) Slinger of Massillon, Kathy D. Fannin and Richard L. (Jenny) Fannin, both of Pleasant City, Laurie L. (Daniel) Torrence of Guysville, and Jennifer J. (James) Harding of Summerfield; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece, Cheryl Thompson of Pleasant City; and special lifelong friends, Mary Bever and Lucy Jane Bates.
Friends may call Sunday, April 27, 2013, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, April 28th at 10AM with Frank McAtee, lay servant/minister, officiating.
