Obituary for Donald Ray 'Turtle' Hickman
Donald Ray "Turtle" Hickman, age 71, of Caldwell, Ohio, died March 12, 2011, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born June 19, 1939, in Noble County, son of the late John Willard and Mildred Hitchens Hickman. He attended Caldwell High School, and he retired from the former Mahle plant in Caldwell after 44 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, and a member of the Steelworkers of America. Mr. Hickman enjoyed golfing, fishing, and he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Hickman.
Surviving are one daughter, Wendy Louise (Teddy) Smith of Harrisville; one son, Willard Ray (Elizabeth) Hickman of Belmont; one brother, John Delbert (Janet) Hickman of Columbus; two aunts, Frances Niswonger and Lois O. Stiers; 9 grandchildren, Kristinia, Kacey, Cody, Samantha, Jaykeb, Christian, Julie, Destiny, and GracieAnnabelle; one niece, Holly; and two nephews, Woody and Matt.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 15, 2011, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. The funeral service will be observed Wednesday, March 16th at 11AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 532 North Street, Caldwell, with Pastor Will Mullins officiating. Inurnment will take place at Olive Cemetery at a later time.
