Obituary for Donald Lee Fannin
Donald Lee Fannin, age 78, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born March 17, 1933, in Derwent, Ohio, son of the late Leonard and Florence Wells Fannin and step-son of the late Ernest Beebe. He was a 1951 graduate of Sarahsville High School. Mr. Fannin retired in March, 1998, from Noble Local Schools, where he was employed as a custodian for Shenandoah High School, and he was formerly employed by The Hoover Company of North Canton, The Timken Company of Canton, and Balls Market and The Dana Corporation, both of Caldwell. He was former mayor of Sarahsville and a member of its village council. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed working on his 1993 Cadillac DeVille. He was also a NASCAR and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and he coached the King Quarry women's softball team with his son Dick for several years.
In addition to his parents and his step-father, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Jo Fannin; and one brother, Herbert Fannin.
Surviving are his wife, Dorthy I. Fish Fannin, whom he married April 7, 1951; his children, Stacy J. (David) Slinger of Massillon, Kathy D. Fannin of Buffalo, Richard L. (Jenny) Fannin of Pleasant City, Laurie L. (Daniel) Torrence of Guysville, and Jennifer J. (James Harold) Fannin-Harding of Summerfield; three sisters, Patsy (Jim) Young of Byesville, Beverly Vona of Canton, and Pam Mills of Florida; one brother Jerry (Donna) Beebe of Derwent; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 9, 2001, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday, August 10th at 1PM. Burial will follow at Halleys Ridge Cemetery in Ava.
