Obituary for Donald Gene Moore
Donald G. Moore, age 79, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born December 29, 1931, in Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, son of the late Mary Moore Casey. He was a 1951 graduate of Sarahsville High School and a he was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Moore served as marshal for the village of Belle Valley, and he retired from both Interlake Steel in Beverly and Central Ohio Coal Company in Cumberland, where he was a dozer operator. He was currently employed in the produce department at Food Center of Caldwell. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and American Legion Post #641 in Belle Valley. Don enjoyed deer hunting, and will be fondly remembered by his CB handle "Pine Tree."
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Orville Casey; and a half-sister, Claire Casey.
Surviving are his wife, Irene T. Minyo Moore, whom he married July 31, 1955; three daughters, Vickie L. (Danny) Basford of Caldwell, Patty A. (Denny) Bettinger of Caldwell, and Debbie S. (Wayne) Eubanks of Cumberland; six grandchildren, including Jennifer L. (Benny) Dye of Marietta; 7 great-grandchildren; one step-sister, Erma Casey of Mt. Ephraim; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Judy) Minyo and Mike (Lynn) Minyo, both of Cumberland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call Friday, September 2, 2011, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will follow at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 3rd at 10AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley with the Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
