Obituary for Donald Edward Hesson
Donald Edward Hesson, age 81, of Elba, Ohio, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born March 30, 1931, in Elba, son of the late Raymond and Iva Stack Hesson. He was a graduate of Macksburg High School, and he retired after 30 years of service at the former Dana Corporation plant in Caldwell. He attended the Macksburg United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, golf, and bluegrass shows. He loved following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with their sporting events. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Walter Everett Hesson. Surviving are his wife, Marlene Faye Griffin Hesson, whom he married February 17, 1951; three daughters, Kathy M. Doan of Columbus, Debra D. (Jeffrey) Ackley of Zanesville, and Yvonne G. (Gary) Smith of Nashport; one son, Joey E. (Catherine) Hesson of Zanesville; two sisters, Wilda Clark of Reno and Wilma Wagner of Lowell; one aunt, Judy Hesson of Caldwell; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special caretaker, Megan Saling. Friends may call Thursday, January 3, 2013, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, January 4th at 11AM. Burial will follow at Salem Twp. Cemetery.
