Obituary for Donald C. Moore
Donald C. Moore, age 77, of Cambridge, Ohio, formerly of Sarahsville, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born May 17, 1938, in Noble County, son of the late Clarence O. and Opal Bates Moore. He was a 1956 graduate of Sarahsville High School, and he was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Moore owned and operated Center Lunch in Sarahsville from 1981-2007. He was employed by Worl Thompson Motors and Cowgill’s Chevrolet as an auto body mechanic, and as a groundskeeper for Noble Local Schools. He also served two terms as Seneca Twp. Trustee. He was a member of the Bates Hill Church of Christ in Sarahsville and the New Concord Church of Christ, and he was a member of the Mt. Ephraim Golf League. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Michael Moore; one granddaughter, Kyla Boyd; his mother and father-in-law, Sara and Paul Leek; one sister-in-law, Anita Moore; and two brothers-in-law, Terry and Roger Leek.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Gara S. Leek Moore, whom he married February 18, 1961; his children, Denise (Roy) Boyd of Pleasant City, Melinda (Alan) Wells of Cambridge, Kenny (Wendy) Moore of Cambridge, and Mark (Kathy) Moore of Fairfield; his siblings, Robert L. (Martha) Moore of Sarahsville, Darrell E. Moore of Caldwell, Ronald D. (Donna) Moore of Caldwell, and Linda (William) Franklin of Sarahsville; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, July 13, 2015, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, and Tuesday, July 14th from 12PM-1PM at the Bates Hill Church of Christ in Sarahsville, where the funeral service will follow visitation Tuesday at 1PM with Evangelists Dick Harris and Harry Summers officiating. Burial will follow at Bates Hill Cemetery.
