Obituary for Dewey D. Smith
Dewey D. Smith, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born April 30, 1928, in Jackson Twp., Noble County, son of the late John W. and Mary C. Doebereiner Smith. Dewey was a 1946 graduate of Macksburg High School. He retired in 1994 from Central Ohio Coal Company, where he drove a coal hauler and supply truck, and he was also employed by The Wilds as a bus driver. He was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ. Dewey enjoyed old cars, especially Hudsons, and he was a member of the Hudson, Essex, and Terraplane Car Club. He enjoyed working on his cars and gardening, and he enjoyed working all the time.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Maxine Wilson Smith, whom died March 4, 1995; his second wife, Patricia M. Finkel Smith, who died June 26, 2020; one son, Roger D. Smith, who died April 19, 2004; and one brother, Clyde Smith, who died in 1986.

Surviving are his children, Bruce E. Smith (fiancé, Debbie Ware) of Alliance and Marcia S. (Danny) Allbritain of Caldwell; one sister, Faye Champlin of Carroll; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Bilcze, Kelly (Matt) Chandler, Brian Smith (Amber Gray), Nathan Allbritain (Amanda Gray), Alicia (Jeremy) Scherf, and Nolan Allbritain (Michele Welsh); twelve great-grandchildren, Landon, Peyton, and Madison Bilcze, Dylan and Olivia Chandler, Brennan Smith, Daulton Gray, Bayleigh Gates, Emmalyn and Britton Scherf, and Cohen and Kaylee Gray; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend and classmate, Emmerson Rowlands of Zanesville.

A private service will be observed by the family at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later time. The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Guernsey and Summit Acres Nursing Home and to Jackie Smithberger, Carrie Wells, and Debbie Moore for their loving care.
