Obituary for Denver R. Graves, Jr.
Denver R. Graves, Jr., age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at his home. He was born May 29, 1936, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, son of the late Denver Ray and Ruth Viola Myers Graves, Sr. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served on submarines from 1954-1965. He was employed by Cummins and Sprite Campers and Fuqua Mobile Homes, and he retired in 2008 as a traffic manager from the International Converter plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ, the Hospice of Guernsey Support Group known as The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and The Wounded Warrior Project. Denver had a tremendous sense of humor. He was a devoted Christian man who loved his family. Denver, with his wife Marilyn, were the best dad and mom, grandparents, and in-laws to their family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Scott Hornor Graves, whom he married July 14, 1956, and who died June 25, 2015; an infant daughter, Rachel Dawn Graves; one grandson, Matthew T. Steese; and one brother, Allen Graves.
Surviving are his children, Greg S. (Bernadette) Graves of Mars, Pennsylvania, Jeff K. (Trena) Graves of Summerfield, Andy B. (Lori) Graves of Norman, Oklahoma, Mark W. (Christine) Graves of Shadyside, and Joyce A. (Tom) Steese of Caldwell; his siblings, Ralph (Marsha) Graves of West Virginia, Joy (Chuck) Hawkins of Ohio, and Chuck (Marsha) Graves of Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on its way; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.
Friends may call Friday, January 11, 2019, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, January 12th at 11AM with Evangelist Brent Smith officiating. A veteran's graveside service will follow at Olive Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
