Obituary for Deno C. Capello, Sr.
Deno C. Capello, Sr., age 79, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at his home. He was born January 16, 1937, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, son of the late Joseph S. and Rose M. Trombetta Capello. He was a 1954 graduate of Masontown High School and a 1958 graduate of West Virginia University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in music education. In 1965, he completed his master’s degree in music and music education at WVU. He was employed as music teacher for Noble Local Schools, where he established the Tri-School Band. After Shenandoah High School was built in 1963, Mr. Capello established the Shenandoah High School Band. He taught instrumental music at Noble Local Elementary Schools and for Shenandoah Elementary School, retiring from Noble Local Schools in 1989. He was a member of the Ohio Music Educators Association, the Ohio Education Association, and Noble County Retired Teachers. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, where he served as usher and former member of the parish council. He was a long time member of the Caldwell Public Library Board and he was a member of the Noble County Planning Commission. Following his retirement, Mr. Capello was employed by McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell for many years, and he also operated Caldwell Rock of Ages for many years. He loved golfing, swimming, and family vacations to Myrtle Beach, where they were long time campers, and he was a member of the Noble Nuts Camping Club. He also enjoyed sports, especially Ohio State, West Virginia University, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Felicia P. Yanosik; one brother-in-law, Edward Yanosik; one sister-in-law, Virginia Kula McMasters; an infant brother, Dino Capello; and his father and mother-in-law, Frank F. and Elizabeth Putanko Kula.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia C. Kula Capello, whom he married July 25, 1959; one son, Deno “Dean” C. (Sharon) Capello, Jr. of Lexington , Kentucky; one daughter, Teresa A. “Terri” Capello of Columbus; two grandchildren, Joseph A. Capello and Caroline R. Capello, both of Lexington, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 6-9PM and Friday, January 29th from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a rosary will follow visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Saturday, January 30th at 10:30AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.
